Privacy Policy

The Pitch is a video-first hiring app. To connect candidates with employers, we handle some personal information — including the pitch video you record. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it. We keep it deliberately plain.

This policy applies to The Pitch mobile app and this website (together, the "Service"), operated by Apixo ("we", "our", "us"). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

01 What we collect

We only collect what the Service needs to work:

Account information

  • Your email address and a password. Passwords are stored securely (hashed) by our authentication provider — we never see them in plain text.
  • Whether you use The Pitch as a candidate or an employer.

Your profile and media

  • Candidates: your name, professional title, location, years of experience, skills, education, work history, and any links you add (LinkedIn, portfolio, résumé).
  • Media you upload: your 30-second pitch video, profile photo, and résumé file.
  • Employers: your company name, logo, industry, size, location, description, and website.

Activity on the Service

  • Job posts, applications, and shortlist / pass decisions.
  • Notes you save and any reports or blocks you create to keep the community safe.

Device permissions

  • Camera and microphone — used only while you record your pitch video.
  • Photo library — used only when you choose a profile photo.

These permissions are requested when you first use the related feature, and you can change them anytime in your device settings.

Technical data

  • Basic logs and diagnostic data needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.

02 How we use your information

  • To create and run your account and profile.
  • To connect candidates and employers — showing pitches, profiles, and job posts to the right people.
  • To keep the Service safe: reviewing reports, enforcing our rules, and preventing abuse.
  • To provide support and respond to your requests.
  • To meet legal obligations and protect our rights and users.

03 How your information is shared

With other users — by design

The Pitch is a two-sided marketplace, so some information is meant to be seen:

  • If you're a candidate, your pitch video, profile, and skills are visible to employers browsing the app.
  • If you're an employer, your company profile and job posts are visible to candidates.

Good rule of thumb: don't say anything in your pitch, or add anything to your profile, that you wouldn't want a potential employer to see.

With service providers

We use trusted infrastructure providers to run the Service — including Supabase, which provides our database, file storage, and authentication. They process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments, and only to provide these services to us.

For legal and safety reasons

We may disclose information if required by law, or to investigate and prevent fraud, abuse, or harm to people or the Service.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

04 No third-party tracking

The Pitch does not track you across other apps and websites, and does not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers to build a profile of you. Our App Privacy details on the App Store reflect this.

05 Data retention & deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You're in control:

  • You can edit or remove most profile details anytime in the app.
  • You can permanently delete your account in the app under Settings → Delete Account. This removes your profile, pitch video, uploaded media, and account data.

After deletion, residual copies may remain in secure backups for a limited period before they are overwritten, and we may retain limited records where the law requires it.

06 Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No online service can promise perfect security, but we work to keep your information safe and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.

07 Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain uses. You can exercise most of these directly in the app (edit your profile, delete your account), or contact us and we'll help.

If you're in the EEA/UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA/CPRA), those laws give you additional rights; we honor valid requests and won't discriminate against you for making one.

08 Children

The Pitch is intended for people seeking or offering employment and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact us and we'll remove the account.

09 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we'll provide a more prominent notice in the app. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
